At the end of my final year as a graphic design student, I completed a six week student placement at the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). I worked on several projects and the CPA was kind enough to let me share some of them.

CPA Student Research Magazine

The CPA student research magazine, Mind Pad, is a collection of student research reports from across Canada. While the research papers had to follow certain citation methods, I designed the front and back covers, intro and table of contents pages. It was important that the design carry though the separate pages in order to maintain a cohesive look. My goal was to create a professional and abstract design that would reflect the students' hardwork and the, at times, abstact nature of psychology.

CPA Student Poster

The CPA wanted to update its student poster to create more awareness about the CPA at colleges and universities. They also wanted the poster to better reflect the diverse student population that studies psychology. The poster design had to work well on both large screens and traditional flyers in order to reach a broader audience.

CPA Factsheets

The CPA provides free factsheets which provide important information covering a vast variety of psychology topics. The factsheets can be found online at the CPA's website but they can also be found at clinics and counselling centers. The design for the factsheets had to be professional as well as appealing. As the content varies from factsheet to factsheet, and older factsheets need to be periodically updated, the design had to take these things into consideration. I recreated the design as a template so that in the future, pychologists could edit in the factsheet without affecting the layout.
